Youth Success Stories of the Month
My name is Tenzing Palzom, and I am 16 years old. I go to Runnymede collegiate Institute. I volunteer at PCIC, and I’m also part of it. I joined the recreational group where we stop tobacco use and we also help newcomer. Without the help of Kalsang, I don't think I would've gotten the job at No Frills. Kalsang helped me in filling out online application and taught me how to use it. She even helped me with my resume. The Workshop we had about job interview was really helpful when I went to No frills for interview. Working at No frills isn't tough. But I had to memorize all the code of produce area (vegetables, fruits and etc). All I mostly do is stand on the cashiers section and scan items for customer. I would like to thank Kalsang for all the help.

Kalsang Dolma, who is a Youth Settlement Worker in the Parkdale Community Information Centre was very kind and was also very patient. Together we went through all the different jobs postings online and the ones she received from the community. Also she gave me a very useful handout on how to write a good cover letter. And since, some of the jobs I was applying to, required me to write a cover letter, Kalsang without any hesitation guided me with writing one.
I already had a resume initially, but Kalsang was really helpful in upgrading my resume. It gave a lot more confidence knowing that I had a very good resume to represent myself to my potential employers. I think a good resume wins half the battle of getting a job. The upgraded resume gave me immense pride and surely enough, it did not take me very long to get hired by my present employer. Tenzin C lhunkhang Parkdale Resident Seneca College – 1st Year |
